The MMIWGT2S Policy Tracker is the first interactive, AI-assisted database of its kind.
It compiles and analyzes every piece of state and national legislation introduced since 2020 that addresses the crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, Trans, and Two-Spirit relatives.
This public tool highlights where progress is being made — and where it’s still urgently needed. It reflects our belief that data transparency is a form of advocacy, and that tracking policy is a sacred act of remembrance and protection.
The following map visualizes key data points represented through our tracker — showing which states have introduced, passed, or failed to advance MMIWGT2S-related legislation.
The chart below is an unprecedented compilation of all state-wide or national legislation relating to MMIWGT2S in the United States. Each policy is analyzed by UIC researchers and advocates according to community-defined indicators of safety, inclusion, and accountability.
The Policy Tracker is updated several times per year.
