UIC acknowledges that we are situated on the Island of Manhataan (Mannahatta) traditional lands of the Lenape, the Manahatin, the Canarsie, the Shinnecock, the Reckgawanc, Munsee and Haudenosaunee Nation. We pay respect to all of their ancestor’s past, present, and future. Manhattan has always been a gathering and trading place for many Indigenous peoples. An intersectionality of many tribes since immemorial, a place to gather and sometimes safety during intertribal warfare . We offer our care and gratitude to the land, water and air of the land, and are committed to resisting colonialism and imbalance with Mother Earth through the support of Indigenous-led programming and Indigenous centered representation.

This Pride season, we center the brilliance, survival, and futurity of Two-Spirit, Queer, and Trans Indigenous people.
From powwow circles to ballroom runways, INDIGIPRIDE 2026: Ballroom Pow Wow brings together Indigenous tradition and Ballroom culture in a shared practice of resistance, joy, and collective care. We honor the ancestors who danced before us, the Houses and communities that built refuge and family in hostile cities, and the culture bearers who continue to move us forward, fierce, unapologetic, and alive.
