We firmly believe that culture acts as a protective factor, and research demonstrates that cultural practices contribute to preventing adverse behaviors such as mental health illness and substance misuse.
Our objective is to enhance personal wellness, promote positive self-image, foster self-efficacy, and strengthen familial and non-familial connections, all while promoting cultural connectedness among Urban Natives through this dedicated space.
We offer a three-monitor computer lab, five iPads with free Wi-Fi access, and printing facilities. Additionally, we have a dedicated lounge area for co-working and a functional kitchen that can be utilized by the community.
Talking circles provide a safe and supportive environment for individuals to gather and engage in open and respectful dialogue. These circles encourage active listening, empathy, and the sharing of personal experiences.
By incorporating talking circles into our center, we create a space where Urban Natives can freely express themselves, seek support, and find a sense of belonging within their community.
Beading holds deep cultural significance for many Indigenous communities, and it serves as a form of artistic expression, storytelling, and healing. Beading circles provide a creative and therapeutic outlet for Urban Natives to engage in this traditional craft.
Through beading, participants can reconnect with their cultural heritage, express their creativity, and experience a sense of accomplishment. Beading also provides an opportunity for intergenerational sharing and the preservation of Indigenous artistry.
Submit a sharing request (see below) to reserve co-working space now!
